Craigs Standing Stones
Map Reference: C977182 (2977, 4182)
These three standing stones form a crooked line about 200m long running approximately NNE-SSW. In some cases the stones stand on the field bank above the surrounding level. One of the stones is about 1.55m high and the others are about 1.2m tall. Because of the position of the stones and the fact that the surrounding earth is not visible in all cases, it is difficult to assess the true heights. Two of the stones are basalt, but the third is covered with lichen. It is impossible to assess the antiquity and purpose of the stones. The fact that they are tucked so neatly out of the way suggests that they may not be in their original positions.
