Tullaghore Crosses

Map Reference: D096340 (3096, 4340)

The age of these two crosses is uncertain but they are mentioned in the OS Memoirs of the 1830s when they were associated with a holy well which had stood at the bottom of the hill. The larger stone has an expanded head giving it a somewhat phallic appearance. The north face is carved with a knot shaped like a pair of scissors. It is about 85cm high. The smaller stone is about 55cm high and is roughly cross-shaped.
