Kilnaruane Carved Pillar

Map Reference: V985475 (0985, 0475)

The carved pillar at Kilnaruane, on the outskirts of Bantry, may be the shaft of an early High Cross.

The carvings include St Paul and St Anthony, ribbon and spiral interlace, and other figures. The main panel on the SE face shows a boat with four oarsmen and a steersman, rowing through a sea of crosses.

Two incisions on the top of the stone indicate a missing attachment.
