Tireighter Wedge Tomb

Map Reference: C590019 (2590, 4019)

This is a very fine example of a wedge tomb. There is a straight facade on the west with the outer two stone being slightly higher than the rest. It is about 5m wide.

The tomb is about 7m long and the outer walling survives on both sides for about 6m. The entrance is about 1m wide and leads to an antechamber 1.5m deep. A septal slab divides this antechamber from the burial chamber which is about 4m deep and 2m wide.

There is a displaced roof stone near the back of the chamber but all the orthostats at the rear of the monument have been removed.
