Donaghmore High Cross

Map Reference: J105350 (3105, 3350)

The name Donaghmore suggests an early foundation, possibly by St MacErc, a brother of St Mochaoi of Nendrum. The ring-headed granite cross is richly decorated with Biblical scenes and possibly dates from the 9th or 10th century. On the east face the scenes include David holding Goliath's head on a pole and David & the Lion. The west face includes Adam & Eve and the Ark. The west face of the head has a crucifixion with a thief on either arm.
