Saintfield Railway Station

Map Reference: J411593 (3411, 3593)

Saintfield Railway Station was built in 1858. It is a single storey, grey stone building with yellow brick trim. The main building had separate rooms for station staff, a general waiting room, a ladies’ waiting room and a booking office. Accommodation for the stationmaster was originally in the main building but in the 1890s a separate stationmaster’s house was built. At this time a canopy was added to the station and a signal cabin was built. Most of the Belfast & County Down Railway closed in 1950. The station is now a private dwelling.
