Tully's Castle, Clondalkin
Map Reference: O074313 (3074, 2313)
This castle is also known as Clondalkin Castle. It consists of a narrow tower which may date from the 16th century and parts of an attached building which may be a century later. All of the window openings in the tower are narrow and most of them are blocked. Although the crenellations are damaged enough remains the show that they were of the 'Irish' style. There is a row of weeper openings at roof level. There are no significant features in the later building. The tower look as if it may have been part of a larger tower-house, possibly housing the stairs or the garde-robes. The castle was owned by the Tully Family during the 18th and 19th centuries.
