Coolbuck Wedge Tomb

Map Reference: H310439 (2310, 3439)

This wedge tomb stands in boggy ground overlooking Lough Skale. It is overgrown with gorse and heather but its one large remaining lintel stone is easily visible. This is about 30cm thick and over 1m square. Close examination show that there are well preserved remains of a gallery about 8m long and 2m wide. There are some traces of outer walling. The tomb is set in a cairn about 15m long and 8m wide, aligned W-E, being slightly wider at the west end.
