Montiaghroe Stone Alignment
Map Reference: H193694 (2193, 3694)
This small stone alignment is in the field opposite Drumskinny RC Church. It is set in greatly overgrown, boggy ground. Three limestone pillars form a straight line NNW-SSE, 6m long. The stones are 1.85m, 1.4m and 1.15m high, increasing in height from SSE. The stones are about 40cm thick. The maximum width of the tallest stone is about 80cm. The middle stone tapers to a point and the maximum width is about 50cm. The smallest stone is almost rectangular, having a flat top and a width of about 60cm.This alignment is the only visible remnant of a group of four stone circles and alignments. The other stones may be covered by vegetation.
