Caherkinmonwee Castle

Map Reference: M537209 (1537, 2209)

This castle is still undergoing restoration. It is five storeys high and work is still continuing on the restoration of the four square bartizans. There is a good pointed doorway protected by a machicolation. The castle is lit mainly by small slit windows. Most of these appear to have ogee heads, many of which have decorated spandrels. There are some two-light windows at the top two storeys.
