Cromwell's Castle, Banagher

Map Reference: N004159 (2004, 2159)

This is a medieval castle which was remodelled in Napoleonic times. Later a battery was placed on the top. Nearby is a martello tower. Together they were used to fortify Banagher Bridge on the Shannon.

The castle is a rectangular building with two large drum towers on the corners facing the river. The interior of the building is not accessible.
