Kilfinnane Market House

The old market house in Kilfinnane may date from the 18th century. It is now in a very ruinous condition. It may have been two storeys high by three bays long and two bays deep. The building may originally have been detached but the rear section is now attached on the east side. The building was constructed from red sandstone. The upper storey is fragmentary and no details remain. At the ground floor there was an open arcade three bays long and one bay deep. All these arches are now blocked but not with red sandstone. There are indications that there was a second opening in the rear bay of the west gable but this appears to be a more recent modification.
