Granard Motte

Map Reference: N330818 (2330, 2818)

The motte at Granard may have been built by Richard de Tuit. It is said to be the tallest in Ireland and its height is emphasised by its location on top of the hill. It has an extensive bailey and it is surrounded by a deep ditch and a large bank.
