Ballug Castle
Map Reference: J202060 (3202, 3060)

This tower house is now in very poor condition and has been extensively altered by later occupants. The east and south walls are almost intact but the rest of the building is badly ruined. The projecting tower at the SE corner contains a spiral stairway which gave access to the two upper floors. There was a barrel vault over the ground floor.

There may have been another projecting tower at the NW corner but there is now no trace of it. The doorway was in the south wall and was protected by a murder-hole. The castle probably dates from the 15th or 16th century.
