Dunbunafahy Promontory Fort

Dunbunafahy Promontory Fort is one of many promontory forts on Achill Island. It is surrounded by steep cliffs on three sides.



On the landward side is a deep ditch and a high bank of stone and earth. In the middle of the bank is a small cist grave.



Part of the fort on the seaward side seems to have disappeared exposing bare rock.
