Causestown Castle

Causestown Castle is about 3km WSW of Athboy, close to the border with County Westmeath. It is a rectangular tower-house with rounded NE and SW corners. There are projecting round towers at the NW and SE corners. The building has a good vaulted room at ground level and is complete to first floor level with fragments of the upper storeys at the south side. The NW projecting tower contains a spiral stairway. The SE tower contains garderobes and survives to the third storey.
