Clones High Cross
Map Reference: H500261 (2500, 3261)
St Tighernach founded a monastery at Clones in the 6th century. The High Cross is composed of fragments of two sandstone crosses, the head is much too small for the shaft.
On the W face is the Fall of Man, the Sacrifice of Isaac and Daniel in the Lions' Den. On the E face is the Adoration of the Magi, the Marriage Feast of Cana, the Miracle of the Loaves & Fishes, and the Crucifixion.
Other panels on the narrow sides have geometrical decoration.
