Creggan

This is a standard design of pump which seems to date from the middle of the 20th century. It stands beside a small housing development dating from the 1950s.The pump has a cylindrical shaft with spiral decoration. The base of the head has wreath or rope decoration. The lower portion of the head is fluted, as is the upper portion. Between these sections is a broad plain band which is bounded by two raised bands. The name of the supplier may be written on this broad band. Most pumps have no inscription and there is no sign of a manufacturer's mark. The spout is plain with a bucket-hook. The base of the lid has wreath decoration. The pump is capped by a small fluted cup. The handle is gracefully curved with a ball terminal.
