Rantons's Cross Roads, Mullaghglass

Pumps of this design are found all over the north of Ireland. None of them has a maker's mark but some of them bear the name of the retailer in raised lettering around the central band of the head. This pump was supplied by Rankin & Co, Ballymena. It is in perfact condition and all parts appear to be original. However it may be a modern replica. These pumps appear to date from the middle of the 20th century. Many of them were erected to serve small rural housing developments which were built after WW2.
