Freshford

Pumps with a single wheel are not unique but are far less common than those with two wheels. According to the plaque on the ground this pump was erected by Thomas Eyre in 1878. It has a tapered cylindrical pedestal shaft with a low relief band. The fluting on the round cap is broad with vertical divisions. There is a small ball finial. The spout has fluting on the inner half where it emerges from the pump but is otherwise plain. The wheel has six spokes and there is a cast-iron handle. Thomas Eyre lived at Uppercourt House.
