Balriggan
Map Reference: J035111
This pump has a cylindrical shaft with two raised bands. There is a fluted domed cap with a spiked finial. The handle has a graceful ogee-curve with a pear-shaped terminal. The plate attached to the shaft indicates that the pump was supplied by Collins, Shop Street, Drogheda.
About 400m north of this pump, in Kilcurry, is a similar pump. However this has lost its cap and in generally in poorer condition. There is no name plate.
The above photos were taken in 2010. A return visit in 2014 showed that the pump was freshly painted and that it had received a new cap and handle. It now stands beside a stone through
