Kilbeggan

In the market square there is a pair of two-wheeled pumps, probably not in original position. The pump nearer the market house has six-spoked wheels. The shaft of the pump is plain with a broad raised band. Above the band is a circular panel indicating that the pump was made by Tonge and Teggart. The inner portion of the spout is fluted, the outer portion is plain. The lid is probably not original. It looks like the fluted dome of a Glenfield and Kennedy hydrant, complete with acorn finial.

The other pump is a more common design. It has five-spoked wheels. The shaft is fluted and the fluted dome has a spiked conical finial.
