This structure stands a short distance to the south of Lecarrow village. It is known locally as “The Stones” and “Nellie’s Rock”. It is only recently, after the heavy vegetation was cleared, that is was recognised as a possible megalithic tomb. It is not included in the Survey of the Megalithic Tombs of Ireland. It is part of a cluster of weathered limestone rocks. There are several upright stones which may be portal-stones. However any portal tomb, of which they may have been part, would have been very low. Some scholars believe that these stones may be jamb-stones which suggests that there may have been a court tomb here. There are at least two chambers. Other stones may be displaced capstones or lintels. Both types of tomb may be present here and a proper survey or excavation would be needed to solve the riddle.
