Toureen Peakaun

Map Reference: S004285 (2004, 1285)

St Alban founded a monastery here about 650 but the site is named after his successor, St Beccan. At Toureen Peakaun there is a ruin of a 12th century rectangular church with a flat-headed doorway and a good decorated window.

There is a fine collection of early cross-slabs mounted on the church wall and a number of other carved stones, including cross-shafts, nearby.

There are still pilgrimages to the church and its nearby holy well.
