Ferrycarrig Castle

Map Reference: T016232 (3016, 1232)

This may be a 15th century Roche castle. It stands on a rock commanding the narrow passage of the Slaney river. It survives to three storeys high. The rebuilt south doorway is protected by a murder-hole. A mural stairway rises in the east and north wall. Above first floor it changes to a spiral in the NW corner.
