Whitechurch Graveyard, Wilkinstown

This is said to be the site of the parish church of Whitechurchglynn. However there is no record of the church nor any visible remains. The graveyard is still in use and has a good mixture of 18th, 19th and 20th century memorials. The most interesting stones is a series of small granite crosses. These all have IHS carvings and very short inscriptions. The dates seem to centre around the middle decades of the 18th century. Some similar stones were noticed in Adamstown graveyard.
