Our Lady's Church, Glendalough

Map Reference: T122968 (3122, 1968)

A short distance to the west of the main group of monuments at Glendalough is Our Lady’s Church (or St Mary’s Church). It stands within a raised square enclosure and may have been built for use by women or nuns. It is a nave-and-chancel church with a fragmentary east gable. The west gable stands to full height and has a lintelled doorway with inclined jambs. On the underside of the lintel is a carved saltire. There are two cross-inscribed stones in the chancel and several crude crosses and cross-slabs in the surrounding graveyard.
